Lipsticks can add so much character and color to a person’s face; that’s why I love it when brands carry a wide range of lipstick colors because it shows how much they care about the different types and personalities of women they cater. Personally, I prefer the natural look so I usually go for rosy browns, mauves, blush pinks and nudes. But, I also go for reds esp. when I’m going out at night. For some reason, red seems to exude confidence so that’s the lip color I choose whenever I feel like I need some added confidence for the day. Haha! :)
I’m so happy that Avon carries 20 gorgeous shades of perfectly matte lipsticks. It gave me so much options to the point wherein one of my “1st world problem” is which lipstick color should I wear for the day.
On the video I posted, I shared some of my favorites from the 20 shades of lipstick from Avon’s Perfectly Matte Line. And since I mentioned earlier that I prefer the natural colors, most of my choices came from the 8 new Perfectly nude shades that they just added to their collection! :)
Watch and enjoy the video guys! I slightly gave a review of the lipstick on my vlog as well so if you’re curious if it dries your lips… Panoorin niyo. Haha! :)
The Avon True Perfectly Matter Lipstick line retails at Php 399.00 each and is available through any Avon representative or online at AvonShop.ph :)
P.S. Ladies, remember that makeup can truly make you look good but confidence and a bright smile can take so much further than any cosmetic product can. I hope you all enjoy life and smile all the time! <3
I never attempted to colored my hair before because I’m scared. I’m scared of ruining my hair and drying it out. I’m also scared of possible allergies since I’ve heard stories of people getting allergies from hair dyes. :) But, as our president says: change is coming. Haha! So, here I am sharing my first hair color experience. Everything about this post is a first. It’s my first time to dye my hair, it’s my first time to use this brand. And, it my first time to color my hair at home.
I chose HERBATINT as the hair dye to use for my first attempt because I heard it’s made of natural and organic ingredients so the chances of getting allergies might be smaller. And, my mom uses it too because it’s ammonia free! :)
I didn’t know what to expect since it’s my first time to color my hair but here are my thoughts: Herbatint’s hair dye is not as foul smelling as some of the other hair dyes I’ve gotten a sniff of, which is good because I usually hate the smell of dyes. The texture of the dye is gel-like but it’s also a bit oily when applied; I guess it’s slightly oily because the dye is made of organic herbal extracts. It’s quite difficult to remove (I’m not sure if that’s also the case for all hair dyes because it’s my first timeee.), I’ve rinsed it for about 8-10 minutes already but it still leaves a few traces of color on my fingers when I run them through my hair. For the past 2 days that I’ve had my hair color, my hair felt rough and heavy whenever it’s wet, but don’t fret! You might think you need to apply conditioner to soften it up but it returns to its normal state after you dry it up. :) Overall, the product is good and I didn’t get any allergies from it too. It’s a bit expensive thought compared to the other hair dyes because it’s priced at over Php1,000.00 at Healthy Options, but I guess thats’s the normal price you have to pay for choosing an all natural product. Hahaha! :)
Now, here are the things your might want to consider when doing your hair dye at home:
1. If the color of your hair is dark, try getting a few shades lighter than the one you see on the box. Based on experience, I chose Herbatint’s 5N in Light Chestnut, which is already supposed to be “light” but the color is still not very evident on my hair because it came from a very dark color. I guess, it would only appear as light chestnut if your hair is already white/gray :)
2. Instead of doing it at home, look for a nearby parlor (the cheap ones), who would be willing to apply and rinse your purchased hair dye at a minimal cost. I was lucky that my mom’s already an expert at dying her own hair because she did mine. If I was left there to do by myself, I probably would have given up on it. Hahaha! It’s messy and hard. T___T
In short, I’m not encouraging you to DIY. Hahaha! But, it the application doesn’t have to be expensive as well. There are a lot of small parlors that can apply it for you for only Php200. You might as well take that and save the time and the trouble of applying it yourself.
3. Make sure you check the brand’s reviews online or ask someone who has already tried it before purchasing just to make sure it’s safe to use. :)
P.S. If you’re curious about the hair dye I used, it’s called HERBATINT and it’s made of 8 organic herbal extracts: Aloe Vera, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam), Betula Alba (White Birch), Cinchona Calisaya, Hamamelis Virginiana (White Hazel), Echinacea Angustifolia, Juglans Regia (Walnut) and Rheum Palmatun (Rhubarb). You can get them at any HEALTHY OPTIONSbranch. :)
I never liked putting sunscreen on my face because they look really white, they feel sticky, thick and slightly irritating. I think I’ve already tried a couple of brands and most of them looks weirdly the same on the face. And then… this happened. I was lucky and thankful that this baby was sent to me before my trip to Palawan. It really saved my face from getting seriously sunburned. NO JOKE AH. If you see me now, di mo akalain na nagbeach ako. Pero mukha lang tignan mo because I couldn’t say the same for my bodyyyy. May mga tao pa na nagsabi sakin, parang di ka naman umitim. HAHA. Try mong tignan yung shoulders saka likod ko, baka akalain mo naka-swimsuit parin ako sa tindi ng bakat ng straps! :) From dark red, my shoulders are now chocolate brown. Para akong 2-in-1 ice cream na ¼ Vanilla and ¾ Mocha or Chocolate. Medyo sablay kasi hindi talaga pantay. X___X And because of that, I am slightly discouraging people to get Beach Hut as their sunscreen. SPF 100+ daw pero mas effective pa yung Biore UV Aqua Rich Whitening Cream ko na SPF 50+ lang. DON’T ME. I was so disappointed. :( At least my Nivea body sunscreen never failed me like this. I just didn’t bring it kasi kuripot ako, hindi ako nagbayad ng baggage tapos more than 100ML yung Nivea sunscreen ko. HAHA! #Regrets
Anyway, moving on.. :) This Biore UV Aqua Rich Whitening Cream was not sticky at all. In fact, it felt really light on the face. It also dries quickly as soon as you apply it, and it doesn’t make your face look white. CHILL LANG SIYA SA MUKHA KO! :)
And aside from protecting your face from sunburns, it also protects skin from skin-ageing UVA and skin-darkening UVB rays while promoting fairer, more translucent skin. It also hydrates and softens the skin because it contains Hyaluronic acid and Citrus extracts. It also contains Chamomile ET that helps fight dark spots and freckles for a fairer and more even skin tone. AND TAKE NOTE, Biore is the #1 sunscreen brand in JAPAN! - Yan yung sabi nung script ko. Pero naniniwala naman ako kung naprotect niya ng tunay yung face ko during that harsh sunburn in Palawan. I was protected even though I didn’t feel the sunscreen on my face. And because of that….
I put my trust in you, Biore. :)
Rosy cheeks can make a pale face look blooming. I don’t usually use blush before, but when I saw the difference it made on someone else’s naturally powdered face, I knew it would be my new go-to makeup product for my lazy days. :)
Here are my blush choices:
1. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Pure 22
I’ve been using this for over 2 years now and it’s my favorite because it’s light so it’s looks very natural on the skin. And since it’s light when applied, it’s easier to control the darkness/lightness of the blush’s color on your face. It might take a few dabs and brush strokes to achieve your desired cheek color though, and that’s one thing I don’t like about it because it gets used up so fast. :(
I love the different shades of the blush too. The natural rosy cheek color is achieved when all that is blended together. However, just like how rosy cheeks can be gone when you’re all relaxed and cooled down, Neutrogena’s blush also looses it’s color after some time so you may have to re-touch at least once a day to keep your cheeks bright and pink. :)
2. Clinque Chubby Stick - Cheek Colour Balm in 03 Roly Poly Rosy
I got this for free so I’m using it, but I don’t think I’m going to get one for myself considering how pricey Clinique can be. :D
This chubby stick is like a big lipstick that’s less moist and with a powdery finish. It’s nice to use because it looks very natural too, but it’s harder to blend because once you’ve glided it through your face you have to rub it quickly before the color really sticks on your face. If you fail to do so, you might end up with uneven cheeks. Hahaha! :) What I do like about it though is that it lasts long, has a nice rosy color and it looks very natural. :)
3. BYS Contour Trio in 02 Sweet
I was desperate to get a new blush because my Neutrogena was running out fast so I got this from my friend Phylicia when she sold this at a bazaar. [The Neutrogena blush in the picture above was from my mom. Apparently, she has an extra blush so she gave it to me when she learned that mine’s almost out. Haha!] I don’t know how much this BYS Contour Trio really costs in the department store but I got this from Phya for only Php200, which is not bad at all. :)
The color is more orange-y than my preferred pink-ish tone, but it was alright. It’s good enough if you just aim to put some color on your cheeks. It’s powdery so it’s easier to control the color when applying it on the face so aside from it’s color, I’m quite happy with this buy. :)
4. Wet N Wild Blush in 832E Heather Silk Soie Chinee
And since the Neutrogena Blush I’m using is not sold here in the Philippines, I tried to look for a blush alternative in case I don’t get my hands on a Neutrogena blush anytime soon. :) I searched online for a nice cheap one and found this! :)
It’s one of TOTALBEAUTY.COM’s top-rated blush and it’s cheaper than Neutrogena too! It’s about $8 dollars cheaper so why not! In my mind I was thinking: “If I so happened liked this blush, it would be cheaper and more accessible because it’s being sold at PCX in Rockwell.” :D
After trying it…. I’m not quite sure if I’m gonna get it again. Haha! It’s highly pigmented so one dab can go a long way but it’s hard to spread on the cheeks. Once you put it on your face, the color already stays on the spot where you placed it, thus making little room for adjustments. Hahaha! I ended up putting powder over it just to tone it down a little bit. :) And, don’t use the brush that goes with the blush, it’s stiff so it can’t really spread the blush powder on your face and it smells quite bad. :D

The everyday look is usually made of natural lip shades such rose, rose brown and peach brown because they are the most similar to our lip shade. These colors are neutral and natural yet they show an obvious enhancement to the lip color. Nudes can be a part of this too but I personally think they’re too pale and obvious. :)
For a sexy yet sophisticated look, go for red because it really stands out and gives life to your makeup. Any shade of red can give the lips a bolder and sexier look, but make sure you keep your outfit proper/presentable/elegant. Try to avoid pairing red lip shade to sexy clothing (unless that’s what you’re aiming) because you know.. it’s gonna be too sexy and may not look too good anymore. :) - No offense meant, it may or may not look good naman eh. It really depends on how you carry yourself with what your wearing.
I think it’s best paired with white, navy blue, black, red and other dark colored outfit. :) And it’s the perfect lip color for important occasions, events and birthdays! :)
Strong and Fierce
For a strong and fierce look, try using lipsticks with darker tones such a maroon, dark red, red violet and the like. The dark shades will give the face a stronger “you can’t mess with me” look. Haha! :)
Cute and Bubbly
Cute = pink! Whether it’s baby pink or bright pink, you can never go wrong with this lip shade if you’re aiming for a cute and young look! :)
The confident one-of-a-kinds are those that I’m not. Hahaha! They’re the ones who are confident enough to wear just about any lip color! Can you imagine me wearing a black, bright orange or purple lip shade? Yup, not me! But there are people who can carry those shades so well and they fall under this category because THEY CAN! :)
In my next few beauty blog post, I’ll be sharing the shades and brands I use for each category (except Confident One-Of-A-Kind)! I really don’t have a lipstick that can fall under it. Mashado akong uptight to experiment on unique lip shades. Hahaha! :)

Back when I was young, which is a decade ago, I rely on magazine articles to get me through my teenage years. And one thing I noticed was a usual common ground when it comes to what guys physically notice in a girl at first sight (aside from their beautiful faces and sexy bodies of course) is their clean nails. I remember reading something in this context (not the exact words): Clean nails are important because that’s how you initially see how clean and hygienic a person is; when even the tiniest part of their body is well taken care of. That’s when I started to clean my nails weekly. Hahahaha! :) True story to guys. I get dyahe and uneasy when I fail to clean my nails in a week after I read that article. Ngayon ko lang narealize na medyo life changing din pala yung pagbabasa ng magazines. Haha! :)
And even though it’s not about the guys’ views, what is “style”, really, if your nails aren’t totally clean. Bongga ng damit, shoes and bag pero sablay yung nails, medyo off parin diba? :) That’s why I really see to it that I clean my nails before I go to an event or any special occasion. And yes, I do my own nail cleaning since it’s gonna be a bit costly if I go to the nail salon weekly. Getting your own nail kit it is far cheaper and can even last you for decades! :)
More than nail polishes, the true and main nail tools I use are the following: cuticle remover, pusher, nail cutter/clipper, nail file and cuticle sanitizer. That’s what I use weekly even though I don’t put nail polish on a regular basis. :)
Being an expert in nail care, Caronia has all the nail salon care you need. I’m not sure about the pusher and nail clipper (we get those from Hortaleza) but Caronia carries nail polish remover, cuticle remover and cuticle sanitizer in their brand. I think they are one of the affordable yet effective ones too since that’s what my mom really gets even before I was sent this Caronia Salon Care. :)
If you’re not familiar with these items, here’s a quick run through of what they do for reference in case you decide to make nail cleaning a DIY habit. :)
Caronia’s Nail Polish Remover - alam niyo na yan. It makes removing nail polish easier than “kutkut” hahahaha! :)
Caronia’s Cuticle Remover - rub some cuticle remover on your nails after the nail polish is completely gone. It will help soften your cuticles to make it easier to clean and remove overgrown cuticles. Use nail pusher and nail clipper in the process. :)
Caronia’s Cuticle Sanitizer - the finisher! Brush the cuticle sanitizer over your newly cleaned nails to disinfect them. This will give your nails a nice fresh look too. :)
Caronia’s complete line of nail salon care and nail polishes let’s you achieve not only beautiful colorful nails but also a good and healthy one too. :) #KeepThingsColorful
P.S. Caronia Salon Care is available in four sizes: 30ML, 60ML, 125ML and 250ML. You can get them in major retailers, supermarkets, department stores, and drug stores nationwide.

The super high tech doll of Nivea. I was curious at first as to why a doll is in the same box as a sunblock (kayo ba hindi kayo magtataka? Haha!), but when I read the details I realized that it was designed in order to physically show the effects of sun exposure to the skin. With the daily sun exposure, we don't usually notice the effect it has on our skin anymore since we probably get sun burned or get darker little by little every day. The Nivea Doll's skin, like human skin, is sensitive to the sun, so it turns red (like sunburn) when exposed to the sun without the caring protection of a sunblock.
Here's a photo of the doll after it sun bathed outside the house :)
My beach trips are still a few months away, but I'm really curious as to how this doll turns red so I gave it a try at home just to see how it works. And poor baby Maria, she did turn red. :(
Here's another photo of Maria the doll when I applied NIVEA SUN on her skin before she went sun bathing. And, yes! She was protected from getting grilled!
Here's my godson, Nathan. He, like a lot of the kids, are still into sports. I've seen him get darker through the years because of baseball so I thought he'd be the perfect receiver of this gift from Nivea. Hopefully, with Nivea Sun, Nathan is going to be enjoying his games and be protected at the same time. :D
It's a great move that Nivea made a doll to demonstrate the effect/consequence of not applying sun protection because kids are the ones who are usually too stubborn to apply sunscreen. Hahaha! I know because I've been there. I hated putting sunblock on because it's sticky and white. But as you grow older, you realize the negative effects of what you have done as a child. :) With this doll, it becomes easier for kids to understand the importance of sunscreen.
I wish that both parents and children could learn from this short blog post so that they could always keep themselves protected from here on forward.
Thank you, NIVEA Family! I'm ready for my 2 beach trips this year because of all the Nivea goodies I have in stock! :D

I've been struggling to get off my eye makeup ever since I used Maybelline's super long lasting waterproof eyeliner & mascara. Hahaha! Love that it stays on my eyes forever, but I hate it when it's already time to take it off. :D
For the longest time, I've settled with just washing my face with Pond's Facial Wash and scrubbing off the eye makeup afterwards. But it always leaves me looking like a raccoon. Good thing it only happens at night, when no one can see me, so I just sleep it off and struggle to getting it completely off after my bath the following day.
Luckily, I was able to get this from one of the goodie bags from my aunts whenever they visit from the states. It's currently a favorite and here are my thoughts about it:
- Removes makeup easily because of it's oil based solution.
- It doesn't feel too greasy/oily on the skin
- It's light on the skin
- It smells quite nice
- It costs around Php2,500 - Php3,000! SO EXPENSIVE (Always a peeve. Hahaha! I know quality comes with the price, but seriously.... I don't want to go poor because of my pa-beauty! Hahaha!)
Verdict: Good and will definitely use it esp. if I get a free mini Bi-Facil again from one of the Lancome loot bags. Haha! But, I'm gonna find a dupe for this. I NEED TO FIND A DUPE FOR THIS BABY! :)

I was able to try Maybelline’s White Superfresh Powder first and I thought it was really nice. It became my everyday powder because it’s far cheaper than MAC, but I have a few issues with it so when I learned about Maybelline’s Clear Smooth ALL IN ONE Powder, I got curious about the difference between the two. The packing is very much the same except for the color and they are both cake powders, so how are they so different?
My friend, Phya, who has been blogging about Maybelline products was kind enough to share her knowledge about the products, which I later tested and validated when I got to try them at home in order to make a more accurate review of the products. :)
Hi, everyone! I made a page dedicated to beauty, skin care & cosmetics because I get more questions about it than fashion & styling. Haha! Now it will be easier for my readers to find my makeup related posts. :)
