Eating and trying good food is part of everyone's travel experience. So for this post, I'm gonna quickly share some of the best meals we've had in New Zealand. Most of the restaurants I'm gonna be sharing also received good reviews from tripadvisor. :) Coromandel Mussel Kitchen This place is qite far though. We were supposed to go to Coromandel to see the shooting location of The Chronicles of Narnia, but the Cathedral Cove was closed during our visit due to the typhoon that hit the area the week before. Luckily, I was able to find this restaurant when we were still working on our itinerary! :) My family enjoyed it! :) Fish & Chips! :) This is probably one of the best fish & chips I've tried so far. The fish still tastes fresh even after being deep fried! :) If you're not a fan of seafood, the MK Chicken, bacon & brie on sour dough bun with salad, garlic aioli & cranberry sauce is really good too! :) [Sorry, I wasn't able to take a photo of that one!] The Mixed Grill Half Shell Mussels (FLAVORS: Garlic Butter, Chili & Cheese and Parmesan Creme Fraiche) Their mussels got muscles! The size one shell is about half of my hand. They are HUGE!!! :) I'm not a fan of mussels but if you are, these are pretty worth it. :) I tried all the flavors and my favorite is Chili & Cheese!!!!!!!! Yum! :) The Parmesan Creme Fraiche is good too but their Garlic Butter tastes normal. Jarvois Steak House in Ponsonby, Auckland They sell some pretty expensive steaks but it was worth it! :) I got the Wakanui Scotch Fillet 350 grams of meat - Medyo nagbaboy ako. Haha! For each steak choice, you get to choose a sauce. I highly recommend the sauce I got (see photo above); it's the Truffle Horseradish Chipotle Bearnaise :) For the sides, get the Baked Candied Kumara Pecans and the Roast Carrots, Burnt Honey, Thyme :) Their steak fries is tasty, crunchy and has a generous serving compared to the other sides. The JSH Creamed Spinach is a very sad tasting creamed spinach so no, I won't recommend that. :D Moving on to ROTORUA.... Ciabatta Bakery - Perfect for your quick breakfast run! :) Yummy sandwiches, besh! :) I got the Lammie: Slow cooked NZ lamb on Ciabatta or Focaccia with Pumpkin, Lettuce, Tomato, Swiss Dressing & special Bacon Jam. Lady Jane's Ice Cream Parlour at Eat StrEat, Rotorua :) Just like most groceries and ice cream shops/stalls in New Zealand, Lady Jane is also selling TIP TOP ice cream (the best and the creamiest!), but they offer Danish cones, toppings and syrups as add ons to your ice cream. But, a scoop at Lady Jane's is about 2 New Zealand Dollars more expensive than the regular ice cream shops so if you're just want ice cream.. Just look for a nearby grocery that sells Tip Top too. :D PITA PIT! MY FAVORITE IN NEW ZEALAND! :) They sell wraps wherein you first choose your meat then choose as many veggies as you want and finally, you can put all the sauces they have available! To give you an idea, some of their available sauces are the following: Caesar, Ranch, BBQ, Chipotle, Sweet & Spicy, Aioli, Mayo, Honey Mustard, etc. :) It’s like Subway, but instead of sandwiches, they sell wraps. :) It’s cheap, healthy and delicious! :) Finally… CHE CHORIZO :) Tapas: Mini Paella & Chorizo Both are delicious but another tapas that I would recommend are their Empanadas! They’re so good! My favorite fillings are Chicken and Humita(sweetcorn, basil, tomato, garlic and cheese) :D Short Ribs - this is one of their popular dishes. It’s delicious but I prefer the next two entrees better. :) Scotch Fillet - perfectly cooked and seasoned steak! :) Parrillada - A platter of different meats: Beef Steak, Chicken Thigh, Chorizo, Pork Ribs and Lamb. In this meat selection, my favorite is the BBQ Chicken Thighs! It’s tender, juicy, perfectly cooked, smokey and savory! SHOULD’VE ORDERED CHICKEN!!! :) Their lamb is pretty good too, but I highly recommend the chicken. :D
