We, Filipinos, have grown up with bread (esp. pandesal) as our staple food item on the breakfast table. Being tinapay lovers, the Filipino people have already come up with a variety of breads that we can all enjoy and each bread is a reflection of each of our province’s culture and history. The making of these breads are shaped by various influences throughout the ages. Apart from the famous pandesal, there’s also pan de coco, kababayan, monay, kalihim (or better known as Pan De Regla Haha!), putok and many many other choices. But aside from these regulars, there are also the “regional” breads/pastries that vary due to the ingredients, flavors and methods used in the lands where they’re from. These “regional” breads are unknown to most people, but now they can have a chance to shine and let their stories be heard through Pilmico & Max’s Corner Bakery’s Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition. Pilmico has partnered with Max’s Corner to organize this bread making competition because they want to celebrate the colorful tradition of Filipino bread-making and food culture. They want to highlight how bread plays an important role in our local food culture and heritage, supporting our rich food history and empowering community bakeries to become storytellers for the land and their people. The contest is open students ages 18 to 35 years old nationwide. They will present 2 entries - one bread that’s particular to the region they’re representing and one bread with a modern twist. The competition legs will be held in Manila, Bulacan, Batangas, ans Iloilo respectively. The partner universities/venue sponsors for the conpetition are Treston International College, STI-College Bulacan, Lyceum of the Philippines - Batangas and St. Therese College - Iloilo City. The team with a bread concept that clearly carries a unique story, innovation, creativity, and deliciousness will be awarded as the winner of the country’s first Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition. They will receive a trophy, a medal and cash prize worth Php 50,000.00. And, the winning bread will be carried by Max’s Corner Bakery in their outlets nationwide. As the competition also aims to encourage and empower the local youth, a predetermined amount from every piece of the winning bread sold by Max’s Corner Bakery will go to the winning team’s chosen public school beneficiary. :) P.S. The contestants will be given a pantry list of local ingredients that can only be used for the competition so that in case the bread wins, it would be easy to produce them on a larger scale because the ingredients are easily accessible. Join, Spread the word and Appreciate our locally made goods! <3 *** Sharing some of the event’s photos! :) For more info and event mechanics, visit their official facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/tinapaynatin #Tinapay #TinapayNatin #MaxsChicken #Pilmico #breads #bread #BreadBakingCompetition #Contest #PhilippineContest #GeiserMaclang #event #Blogger #Ad #GoLocal #Local
