To celebrate it’s 3rd anniversary, Osaka Ohsho introduced new fusion dishes that will interest your mind and your taste buds. :) P.S. Sorry for my poor blogging skills. I got lazy to take a photo of all the dishes because it was too crowded that night. But, I promise to make a very honest review to make up for my lack of photos. :D In this new line of dishes they have: 1. “Jap-Nish”, which is cross-culture of Japanese and Spanish dishes. - Truffle Gyoza: YUM! This would have been a great dish if the truffle flavor was more evident in the dish. RATING: 8/10 - Chorizo Gyoza: Maybe it would have been better if the chorizo was actually inside the gyoza instead of just having bits and pieces of chorizo scattered on top of it. :) I may be giving this a low rating now, but this dish has a potential. Haha! It can be a sweeter variant of gyoza. Parang SPAM TOCINO na pasok sa panlasang pinoy! :) RATING: 5/10 - Japanese Paella: I’m really sorry but this looks nothing like a Paella. It’s more of a flavored Japanese rice with Tempura on top. :) Maybe an actual Paella on a sizzling plate with Tempura on top would be a better representation of this dish? RATING: 4/10 2. “Jap-Mex” is a mix of Japanese and Mexican dishes. :) - Nori Nachos: INTERESTING STUFF THEY GOT HERE! It was a really clever move to dip the nori sheets in tempura batter and fry them to turn them into nacho chips! This is even better than regular nachos. Haha! If they added a little bit more Sauce and Japanese Mayo, this dish would have been perfect! :) RATING: 9.5/100 :) 3. Japanese Dishes With A Twist - Matcha Butter Tonkatsu: Hindi MATCHA-dong masarap. It lacks flavor and was a bit oily. The matcha flavor wasn’t very strong too, which both good and bad. :) It was good that it didn’t have a strong matcha flavor because I personally find it weird to put matcha (esp. a slightly sweet one) on a Tonkatsu. My taste buds just don’t think they don’t work very well together. But, it’s also bad at the same time because it’s lack of matcha defeats the “MATCHA” in its name. RATING: 4/10 - Black Pepper Gyudon: Ralph wasn’t a big fan of this dish but I was fine with it. :) It is what it says it would be. It was also very flavorful because you can really and taste the black pepper. And of course, it was filling. :) RATING: 8/10 - Gyoza Tantanmen: Correct me if I’m wrong, but Tantanmen’s supposed to be spicy right? If yes, then this is not a Tantanmen. It’s just Gyoza Ramen. :) I have mixed feelings about this. I like the soup (even though it wasn’t spicy) because it has the right balance of creaminess and saltiness so it was light yet still flavorful. I also like the addition of Gyoza because the flavor of Gyoza seems to complement the taste of the soup. I didn’t like the noodles though because it seems a little thicker than regular ramen noodles, but that’s just me. Hahaha! Maybe you guys would have a different opinion about it. :) Since the combination of the soup and the gyoza is good but the noodle was average, I would give this an 8. :) But… because it doesn’t live up to its name, which is supposed to be a spicy noodle…. So RATING 7/10 :) It’s not bad at all but it’s also not the first thing I would think of ordering when I go to Osaka Ohsho again. :) - Salmon Cheese Aburi: If there’s anything in their menu that’s better than their flagship dish (GYOZA), this is probably it! I’m still dreaming about this food. Haha! So so so good! The salmon is cooked perfectly, it was tender, creamy and yum! The sauce tastes like a mix of creamy parmesan and Japanese mayo with teriyaki sauce. NAPAKA-SARAP! :) It kinda reminds me of my favorite Parmesan Crusted Fish Fillet from Cookbook Kitchen, but this has a Japanese Teriyaki Sauce twist to it. YUM YUM YUM! :) RATING: 15/10 (Over sa sarap!) - I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST, GUYS! It’s kinda pricey though at Php495, but it’s salmon and the serving is big so I guess it’s okay. I can be good for 2-3 people, but I think I can finish the whole things on my own! RAWR! Haha! :) I was able to share my thoughts about their new products because we were given this “bento box”-ish of all their new dishes. :) I wanted to request for more Salmon Aburi pero nahiya na ko. Hahaha! Nabitin ako sa 3 bites ko. (Yes, binilang ko kaosi gusto ko sana i-prolong yung moment. LOL!) I hope they would never take the Salmon Cheese Aburi out of their menu! It’s a really good addition to the restaurant’s growing number of food selections. :) Btw guys, this is just a personal rating based on a personal experience so everything I’m saying here is just based on what I thought while I had the food in my mouth. :) Thank you so much, Osaka Ohsho! :) #OsakaOhsho #JapaneseFood #Japanese #JapaneseFusion #Food #Foodie #Blogger #FoodReview #Review #Gyoza #Blog #NewFoodChoices #Thoughts
